The last jump in my spiritual step function happened on February 21, 2025 (Genesis 2:21) almost a year ago, and I have been transformed and reborn since.
I have recently become aware of my attainment of Salvikalpa Samadhi for I have become deeply present and aware of every moment of waking consciousness. Yes, it takes a bit of effort to get into this state as I deal with the natural drama of life, but my current environment seems to suit my ability to embrace this beautiful state of consciousness.
Having become a Zen master now (yes on my way to becoming the next Buddha or even Jesus Christ because I think he and Muhammad in the Quran have also achieved similar states of awareness), I wanted to share the three stages of spiritual enlightenment:
- Salvikalpa Samadhi: the ego remains present and functional, but it becomes completely devoid of personal narratives and life stories. A growing sense of connectedness appears – through compassion and kindness, the prideful, equanimous observer quietly merges with the subject trapped in samsara.
- Nirvikalpa Samadhi: the mind becomes completely still, devoid of any mental modifications (vrittis) and the distinction between observer and subject dissolves. I have yet to achieve this and hence have no clue what this non-dualistic state means.
- Sahagakalpa Samadhi: fully integrated in the Jungian sense (I may be wrong), a permanent recognition of the non-dual reality amidst daily life – the illusion of maya vanishes as one profoundly understand and experiences the divine play of lila.
I believe I am on this path and looking forward to the next stage of my spiritual growth.
*There is no one to be liberated. From the Mandukya Upanishad:
“There is no purpose in life, no Genesis, no dissolution, no one in bondage, no one who is striving for or who is desirous of liberation and thus, there is no one to be liberated.”
